SOTD ✨ Donna Born In Roma Yellow Dream by Valentino

Donna Born In Roma Yellow Dream feels like sunshine bottled into a fragrance. Bright citrus, soft florals and creamy musk come together to create a scent that feels feminine, uplifting and effortlessly wearable. It’s the kind of perfume that instantly makes the day feel prettier.

Now… let’s discuss that opening spray 😂

I went into Yellow Dream expecting something fairly safe and predictable. In my head, I had imagined a sweet citrus fragrance designed purely for mass appeal — pretty, easy to wear and pleasant, but not necessarily memorable. I assumed it would lean heavily into sugary lemonade territory with a soft musky base added for longevity.

I was wrong.

The lemon note in Yellow Dream is genuinely sparkling and realistic. Not candy lemon. Not cleaning-product lemon. Freshly squeezed, zesty, vibrant lemon. On first spray, the citrus absolutely announces itself, so I would definitely recommend starting slow with the sprays unless you’re emotionally prepared to fight for your life and potentially lose a nose hair 🍋😂

What surprised me most about this fragrance was the actual journey from opening spray to dry down. For a fragrance with relatively minimalist notes, it evolves beautifully on skin.

The opening is bright, aromatic and citrus-heavy, but Valentino cleverly avoids making it overly gourmand or syrupy sweet. Instead of turning into “just another lemon dessert perfume,” Yellow Dream keeps a clean sparkling freshness that feels elevated and modern.

As the fragrance settles, the rose heart begins to emerge — and thankfully, this is a rose done right.

Rose can sometimes be divisive in fragrance. It can lean too green, too powdery, too jammy or too sharp. As someone who genuinely loves rose fragrances, I appreciated how balanced this one felt. It softens the brightness of the lemon beautifully without becoming overpowering. The rose here feels soft, slightly sweet, airy and dewy — almost like fresh spring rosebuds rather than thick syrupy petals.

I also appreciated that the transition happened fairly quickly because, truthfully, I wasn’t trying to spend the entire day smelling like I had lost a war with a lemon tree 😂

The dry down is where Yellow Dream truly won me over. The musk base smooths everything together beautifully, holding onto the best parts of both the citrus and floral notes while allowing the sharper elements to fade away quickly. What’s left is soft, creamy, feminine and beautifully blended — sparkling citrus wrapped around delicate rose and fluffy musk.

It somehow manages to feel clean, sunny, comforting and elegant all at once.

This fragrance genuinely makes me want to pack a picnic basket, dress like Dorothy and dramatically skip through a field in high heels for absolutely no reason whatsoever 💛✨

If you love soft citrus fragrances with a creamy feminine dry down, Donna Born In Roma Yellow Dream is absolutely worth experiencing.
